Pervious Concrete
C&D Drain-Crete, our pervious concrete, is an economical and environmentally sound choice in stormwater management. This porous concrete permits rain to pass through the pavement and directly into the soil which allows groundwater to be replenished, runoff into local watersheds to virtually be eliminated and for EPA regulatory requirements to be satisfied. This product is extremely safe for the environment by providing more air and water to trees and plants, filtering out water-borne pollutants, as well as, greatly increasing ground level ozone production.
Drain-Crete helps developers use land more efficiently. Less runoff means less need for retention ponds, swales, storm sewers and other stormwater management devices. The result: space is preserved or made available for parking, storefronts, homes and other uses. Stormwater management systems are expensive to construct and maintain. Drain-Crete can greatly reduce both initial and long-term project costs.
Like other concrete pavements, Drain-Crete reflects light better than pavement constructed from a darker material. That difference in reflectivity can have significant economic consequences: studies have found that concrete pavements can cut lighting costs by up to 30%. As the cost of electricity increases, the savings realized by using Drain-Crete will increase proportionally. |
